Baghdad: A meeting of the heads of middle east and European countries on the security situation in Iraq began in Jordan hosted by King Abdullah II.

According to the International News Agency, an important meeting on the Baghdad Conference on Cooperation and Partnership was held in Swayamiya on the banks of the Dead Sea of Jordan, which is a continuation of last year's meeting in Iraq.

In his opening remarks, King Abdullah II of Jordan said the meeting was taking place at a time when the region was facing security and political crises and there was a rare opportunity to promote security and stability in Iraq.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from Saudi Arabia, France, Iraq, Turkey, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, the European Union and Iran. Saudi Arabia and Iran are represented by foreign ministers.

Speaking at the conference, French President Emmanuel Macron said France is committed to the stability of the region and is dealing with conflict, division, foreign interference and security issues in the interests of promoting peace and security in the vast Mediterranean basin.

Emmanuel Macron added that Iraq has been the biggest victim of regional instability for many years, we need to be able to get this country out of crises.

It should be noted that in Iraq since 2014, allied countries have also participated in the war against ISIS along with the country's army and after a long war, ISIS has been captured, but the political crisis still persists.
