Amsterdam: The sex of the first panda born in the Netherlands zoo suddenly changed to a 'female' two years later.

According to foreign media, the shocking incident of the giant panda's sudden male-to-female transformation took place at the Netherlands Zoo when the panda's routine medical examination was going on.

Confirming the panda's male-to-female transformation, the zoo administration said, "Fanz hang (panda) surprised us."

Zoo officials said that the panda's sex is just a fact for us, which we checked under anesthesia during the inspection so that we can get certainty.


Officials told the media that the panda was medically examined immediately after birth, but at that time it could not be checked with anesthesia, because we did not suspect the panda to be a 'male'.
